Children can teach us so many things about faith. Two nights ago, as Brady and I were saying our prayers, I experienced yet another moment of Brady being my teacher. After saying what we were thankful for that day, he said, “Mom, I have a new prayer I want to say that one of my teachers taught me.” His prayer was:
Father, we thank you,
For this day,
I am your Child,
Please Show me the Way.
Amen.
Those simple words come out of my 4 year son’s mouth were a moment of grace for me–what a lesson and prayer of gratitude and surrender in 17 words.
What if our daily prayer consisted of those two simple things: thankfulness and a turn to God?
What are we doing this Lent to make a “return to God” or to deepen our relationship with Him?
