We know this can be a difficult time of year for those who have lost loved ones.  The holiday season can exacerbate our grief as we look to our tables with an empty chair, feel the emptiness in our arms, or miss hearing the voice of a loved one. Milestones like the holidays can leave us searching for light in the darkness of grief.

The Advent season invites us to remember the promise proclaimed in John 1:5, “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” Let’s cling to this promise together during our live virtual retreat, Grieving with Jesus During Advent: Receiving Light in the Darkness.

Kathy Powell will share prayer tools, scripture, and her personal grief experience, to help you know that even when grief seems to consume you, you are not alone in your suffering. There is light in the darkness. Leave with a renewed permission and space to bring all you are carrying to the comfort and safety of a Jesus who cares and is a companion in our suffering.

Kathy Powell, our Creative Director, is passionate about helping people pray through their grief using Ignatian prayer tools. Her decade of experience accompanying those who have experienced pregnancy loss and other types of grief have combined with her years of living and learning about Ignatian Spirituality to fuel a new way to honor the short lives of her two babies gone much too soon.
