Helping Haiti- Will you help?

February 4, 2010

I received a request from my good friend, Marcie, to post what her cousin Jesse Ryan is doing to help Haiti and to ask people to help him.  Jesse  has been on countless mission trips, and for all of his young adult life has volunteered or been employed as a youth pastor. Last year he starting working part-time and began to pursue another passion–photography.

Jesse is combining his passion for helping other countries, his passion for ministry and his passion for photography in an effort to help raise awareness about Haiti.  See Jesse’s below comments:

“I have been given an amazing opportunity and want you to know about it. Recently, I have connected with some like-minded individuals who have a heart to help make a difference in the world in whatever way they can. I am teaming up with Silent Images, a non-profit organization that raises money and awareness for those in need. I have been asked to be a part of their next project …Project Haiti.

A medical team, 2 pastors, and 2 photographers will be going to Haiti to provide care, assess needs, and more importantly raise awareness so that we can return and raise more funds to help those in crisis. We have close relationships in Haiti with 3 orphanages, 2 schools, and 5 churches in need of much help.During the trip we will regularly blog our progess and post our images. My question for you is this…Will you consider supporting me as I embark on this project to bring medical supplies, water, and hope?

With your help, we can do amazing things. If you would like to send a donation please send it to the address below. This will be an amazing way for you to get more involved in the crisis relief in Haiti. I have to raise about $2,000 and can’t do it alone. We will be able to show you the people you are directly impacting and the change that it will make through our blog and weekly emails..Please, get involved… and we will always welcome your many prayers!

Pray and ask how you can help.

I encourage each of you to read Jesse’s post about Haiti on January 28th on his blog .  I was very moved by his words and his committment to actually do something for Haiti.  Thank you, Jesse, for having the courage to act!

Do we have the courage to act like Jesse is doing?
