Ignatian Wisdom #4: God loves you as you are

September 8, 2011

“Here is the core truth about God as your Creator and Lord:
You are who God wants you to be.  God loves you as you are– not as you might be or could be.  God loves you because you are who you are, for God is making you who you are.
When you know this, you have accepted the most intimate relationship with God that a busy life allows, a relationship that fills all things.”
Joseph Tetlow, SJ

This is the core of the First Principle and Foundation.  Accepting that God loves us as we are and from where we currently are.  Nothing more, nothing less!

Becky is an Ignatian-trained spiritual director, retreat facilitator, and writer. She is the author of the Busy Lives and Restless Souls (March 2017, Loyola Press) and The Inner Chapel (April 2020, Loyola Press). She helps others create space to connect faith and everyday life through facilitating retreats and days of reflection, through writing, and through spiritual direction. With nearly twenty years of ministry experience within the Catholic Church, Becky seeks to help others discover God at work in the every day moments of people’s lives by utilizing St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises and the many gifts that our Catholic faith and Ignatian Spirituality provide.
