One of my favorite things in ministry is sharing with a young adult how to pray the Examen. As a young adult, I use this prayer regularly in helping me discern and make decisions. Chris and I leaned heavily on this prayer last year as we attempted to make decisions about what city to move to. The Spirit felt quiet and neither Chris nor I felt pulled strongly in either direction.
The Examen helped us walk through one of the hardest periods of our marriage. Praying this prayer allowed us to become aware of where things were naturally opening for us and where things were closing. I am passionate about the Examen and sharing the gift of this prayer!
I get really excited when I find a new resource that helps people engage with the Examen in a new way. Last week, I shared Andy Otto’s Evening Examen. Today, I want to point you towards his beautiful audio guided-meditation of the Morning Examen. As Andy says:
It is meant to be prayed in the morning, assessing your desires, feelings, and possible challenges as you face a new day. (It’s better than a cup of coffee!)
I encourage you to try praying with the Examen using either Andy’s guided meditation or using the text of the Examen!
