My life partner

April 16, 2010

I blog about “Finding God in All Things”.  Someone I daily find God in is my hubby, Chris.   Today is his 30th birthday, and I cannot help but pause and reflect on the many reasons why I am thankful for him.  He has been in my life since we were friends in high school.  We remained friends in college until I decided to try to hook him up with one of my friends junior year of college.  Somehow instead of hooking him up with my friend (sorry, Leslie!), we started dating.  It was not long after we began dating that I realized I had found my life partner and companion.

I have said this to many people before, “Chris is the most concrete example of God’s love for me.”  I am reminded so often through Chris’ actions, words, support, encouragement, challenges, laughter, and sense of humor (he keeps me laughing!) that God really DOES work through people.   He provides warmth and joy in my life.  He so often speaks the words of encouragement I need to take action on something I have felt called to do.  He challenges me to be the most authentic person I can be.  Chris is an incredible father to our kids, and I see how his love models for Brady and Abby the love God has for us.

I know that some of you know Chris and that some of you do not.  Either way, I know that we all have people in our lives that so often are reminders to us of God’s love for us.   These people are gifts that we must cherish and treasure.  We must remind them of how valuable their relationships are to us–for they truly are the hands of God at work in our lives!

Happy Birthday, Chris!

Who are the people in your life that serve as concrete reminders of God’s love for you?
What do these people tell you about God’s love for you?
