People Who Inspire Me: Mike Hayes

April 3, 2011

Mike Hayes was a name I heard for a long time before I had the opportunity to meet him two years ago in person at our Charis Partner Conference. He is known for his knowledge of social media and for his passion for young adult ministry. He is author of the book and blog titled, Googling God. While that is Mike on paper, one of the things I most appreciate about Mike is his heart that is deeply rooted in a genuine, lived faith!

In this video, Mike surprised me and moved me to tears with the gift of one of his old books titled, “An 8 Day Retreat”! I know I will embrace the opportunity to read this book, and I will continue to embrace our friendship and our unique bond as lay ministers in the church. Thank you, Mike!

Becky is an Ignatian-trained spiritual director, retreat facilitator, and writer. She is the author of the Busy Lives and Restless Souls (March 2017, Loyola Press) and The Inner Chapel (April 2020, Loyola Press). She helps others create space to connect faith and everyday life through facilitating retreats and days of reflection, through writing, and through spiritual direction. With nearly twenty years of ministry experience within the Catholic Church, Becky seeks to help others discover God at work in the every day moments of people’s lives by utilizing St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises and the many gifts that our Catholic faith and Ignatian Spirituality provide.
