We are workers, not master builders — Correction

September 11, 2011

Thanks to Sr. Janet, a colleague in ministry, who taught me something I did not know in her comment on facebook:

“Becky, this gets attributed to Oscar Romero, but in reality it was written by Ken Untener for a homily given by Cardinal Dearden during a liturgy for deceased priests in Detroit. At some point Romero must have quoted it or it must have been on a card with his picture/name on it and it has become linked with him.”

I am very thankful for Sr. Janet for many reasons, and this is one of them…she always teaches me something!

Becky is an Ignatian-trained spiritual director, retreat facilitator, and writer. She is the author of the Busy Lives and Restless Souls (March 2017, Loyola Press) and The Inner Chapel (April 2020, Loyola Press). She helps others create space to connect faith and everyday life through facilitating retreats and days of reflection, through writing, and through spiritual direction. With nearly twenty years of ministry experience within the Catholic Church, Becky seeks to help others discover God at work in the every day moments of people’s lives by utilizing St. Ignatius’ Spiritual Exercises and the many gifts that our Catholic faith and Ignatian Spirituality provide.
